Statement

The COMOR cruise is taking place in the Seine Bay.

Its main objective is to provide estimates of the exploitable biomass, a quantitative index of recruitment (next generation to be caught) and pre-recruitment (last generation born, not yet accessible to fishing gear due to their size), and growth parameters.

The data from these cruises are thus used as direct support for the decisions of the "Shellfish Commission" of the Basse-Normandie Regional Committee for Maritime Fisheries and Fish Farming, before the opening of the fishing season, and for the management measures adopted by the Fisheries Administration.

In addition, this data is regularly used as a basis for drawing up opinions (fisheries assessment in the context of the pre-Brexit Franco-British agreements, impact of marine aggregate extraction, impact of dumping at sea, etc.) requested by the administrative authorities (prefectures, DDTM, DIRM, Directorate of Maritime Fisheries).
